Hill Country Dogtrot

The design separates the home into distinct spaces for rest, living, and lounging. The kitchen, living, and dining areas sit on one side of the central porch, while the three bedrooms and baths are on the other. Between them, the shaded dogtrot becomes the heart of the house, bringing light, fresh air, and the outdoors into daily life.

A restrained palette of limestone, board + batten siding, corrugated metal roofing, polished concrete floors, and painted drywall creates a clean, timeless backdrop. Carefully selected materials and handcrafted elements, including kitchen cabinetry made from repurposed Craftsman toolboxes, give the interiors warmth, whimsy, and a simple, relaxed character.

Outside, a large round pool, inspired by traditional ranch stock tanks, is nestled into the terrain. Together with an outdoor kitchen, covered patio, and carport, it creates inviting places for gathering, relaxing, and slowing down from city life.
