Private Retreat
ELEVATED LIVING AMONG THE OAKS
We had the unique opportunity to revisit a previously completed
residence, in the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood, when the new homeowner
approached us to design a new fence and entryway, along with a two-story
entertainment pavilion to replace an existing carport and pair
seamlessly with the existing home.
To establish a more defined and private arrival experience, we introduced a poured-in-place concrete wall capped with a steel-framed canopy trellis. This gateway creates a clear threshold into the property and is complemented by a custom Accoya wood fence that encloses a landscaped court centered around several mature live oak trees. From within this court, views extend across the lushly planted yard to both the newly re-clad existing residence and the new two-story entertainment pavilion. Cladding both structures in Accoya wood was key to unifying the overall composition—its warm tone allowing the architecture to nestle naturally into the verdant surroundings.
The new structure incorporates an enclosed garage and a covered outdoor living and BBQ area at the ground level, both oriented toward the existing pool. An exterior stone and steel stair leads to the upper floor, which serves as a multi-functional entertainment hub featuring a TV lounge, intimate bar—modeled after the owner’s grandfather’s own—a golf simulator, bath, and sun deck. High-gloss lacquered blue cabinetry and paneling define the interior, weaving together the various programs into a visually cohesive and immersive space. From the second floor, expansive views overlook the pool, gardens, and into the canopies of the heritage oaks that punctuate the site—offering a serene, elevated connection to the landscape.
The homeowner now has a retreat separate from the main house—an inviting, luxurious environment equally suited for solitude or entertaining. Designed to be both functional and beautiful, the pavilion creates a strong connection to the landscape and celebrates the balance of activity and leisure, while providing greater definition and intention to the site as a whole.
